Hulk Hogan’s Official Cause of Death Revealed: WWE Icon Died of Heart Attack

Nairobi, Kenya – August 1, 2025

Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, born Terry Gene Bollea, passed away on July 24, 2025, at the age of 71, leaving behind a legacy that transformed professional wrestling into a global phenomenon. According to records from the Pinellas County Forensic Science Center, the WWE icon died of an acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack, at his home in Clearwater, Florida. The news has sent shockwaves through the wrestling community and fans worldwide, marking the end of an era for one of the sport’s most iconic figures.

Medical reports also revealed that Hogan had been battling atrial fibrillation, a condition causing an irregular and rapid heartbeat, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a form of blood cancer that had not been publicly disclosed until after his passing. Despite his history of health challenges, including over 25 surgeries in the past decade for back, knee, hip, and shoulder issues, Hogan’s wife, Sky Daily, had recently reassured fans that his heart was “strong” following a neck surgery in May 2025. Tragically, his condition took a sudden turn, leading to his death.

Emergency responders were dispatched to Hogan’s Clearwater home at 9:51 a.m. on July 24 after a 911 call reported a cardiac emergency. Despite efforts to revive him, including 30 minutes of CPR by first responders, Hogan was pronounced dead at Morton Plant Hospital at 11:17 a.m. Authorities have ruled out any foul play, and his death has been certified by his primary care physician.

Hogan, a two-time WWE Hall of Famer, was a larger-than-life figure whose charisma and showmanship propelled WWE to international fame in the 1980s. Known for his signature bandana, horseshoe mustache, and “Hulkamania” persona, he headlined eight of the first nine WrestleMania events and won six WWE World Championships. His iconic moments, such as body-slamming Andre the Giant at WrestleMania III, remain etched in wrestling history. Beyond the ring, Hogan ventured into Hollywood, starring in films like Rocky III and Mr. Nanny, and appeared in reality TV shows like Hogan Knows Best.

Tributes have poured in from fans, wrestlers, and public figures, including former U.S. President Donald Trump, who called Hogan a “great friend” and highlighted his “electric speech” at the 2024 Republican National Convention. WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque described Hogan as the “archetype of a superstar,” while wrestling legend Ric Flair shared his shock, calling Hogan an “incredible athlete, talent, friend, and father.” Hogan’s daughter, Brooke, emphasized their deep bond, stating, “My dad’s blood runs through my veins,” while his son, Nick, remembered him as his “best friend.”

Despite his monumental achievements, Hogan’s legacy was not without controversy. In 2015, he faced backlash after a leaked recording captured him using racial slurs, leading to a temporary removal from the WWE Hall of Fame. He was reinstated in 2018 after an apology and community service efforts. Hogan’s recent ventures included launching Real American Beer and planning a new wrestling promotion, Real American Freestyle, which was set to debut in August 2025.

Hogan is survived by his wife, Sky Daily, whom he married in 2023, his children, Brooke and Nick, from his first marriage to Linda Claridge, and two grandchildren. Sky shared an emotional tribute on Instagram, writing, “My heart is in pieces. I had so much faith in his strength. I thought we still had more time.”

The wrestling world continues to mourn the loss of a true icon whose impact transcended the ring. WWE honored Hogan with tribute segments on Monday Night Raw, and fans across the globe are sharing memories of the man who inspired generations to “eat their vitamins and say their prayers.”
